IN-SHAPE HEALTH CLUBS Introduces Bikaraoke
Visalia location hosts unique group class where members sing as they burn calories.
VISALIA, CA (August 4, 2009) – In-Shape Health Clubs has expanded its diverse line-up of fitness activities with the addition of Bikaraoke, an exciting new group class that incorporates the fun singing aspects of karaoke with the effective workout of group cycling. The new class is being offered for the first time this week at 4:30pm Thursday, August 6, at In-Shape Sports Club Visalia, located at 909 N. Demaree Road.
One of the newest and most popular breakthroughs in the fitness industry, Bikaraoke was created as a fun twist on popular group cycling classes. In-Shape Vice President Steve Saxton noticed the difficulty some class participants experience pacing themselves through these classes and wondered if talking – or singing! – could help measure their workouts. Just like that, Bikaraoke was invented! Each class utilizes a traditional karaoke machine while the instructor passes around a microphone to participants who have volunteered to sing.
“Bikaraoke is a fun, entertaining and effective way to exercise,” said Saxton. “Class participants smile and laugh the whole time, even if they choose not to sing themselves. It’s the most fun you can have while burning off hundreds of calories!”
“Our members are so excited to try it!” said Darlene Kidwell, In-Shape’s Director of Group Exercise. “It’s a class that anyone can take and have fun. Plus it’s a great workout that keeps members entertained for a full hour.”
In-Shape Sports Club Visalia will host its debut Bikaraoke class on Thursday, August 6, at 4:30pm. Taught by instructor Rossie Ballard, the class will recur at the same time each week. Members can take the class for no additional cost, while non-members can try the class by calling (559) 733-1041 and requesting a guest pass.
“It was really important to us to offer something different,” said Michael Todd, General Manager of In-Shape Sports Club Visalia. “We know people have a choice when they look to join a health club. We always want to be one step ahead of the competition!”
