MODESTO, CA (May 12, 2008) – In-Shape Health Clubs has announced the Grand Opening of their 5th location in Modesto. The new gym debuts their unique “Fitness” concept and is located in the Wood Colony shopping center at the corner of Pelandale and Sisk. In-Shape Laurel Glen News Flash

It was a pleasure meeting our members at the In-Shape Sport Laurel Glen Open House on February 26th. Several good ideas and suggestions came up:

The biggest concern was the rezoning application process …which has been discontinued (Yeah) so that everyone will be able to focus on improving the club. Several of you said, “If the club doesn’t make it, then apply for rezoning. Until that time please hold off.” We have negotiated with the landlords. The application process has been stopped! A large amount of the members present enthusiastically stated that if the rezoning process was withdrawn they would start referring members. Well now it’s time to refer new members and let them know about the huge remodel and improvements that are going to be taking place at your club.

The second suggestion was to bring back the Newsletter. We are resuming the monthly newsletter via email and on the website. To sign-up for the email newsletter please email your name, membership number and email address to Daniellel@inshapeclubs.com. We welcome our members’ participation in the newsletter, if you have an article or news you would like to submit please email it to melissag@inshapeclubs.com or drop the article off to the general manager.

In-Shape raises the bar for health clubs

Antioch’s new In-Shape Health Club is a virtual city all by itself, consisting of 65,000 square feet of space inside, plenty of parking outside and a spacious outdoor pool.

“They pulled out all the stops when they designed this club,” said In-Shape District Manager Chuck Ellis. “It’s a family-oriented place where people can come to hang out, relax and enjoy themselves in addition to getting a great workout.” Large TV sets and music play everywhere in the building, providing background for people using the hundreds of workout machines. The club has been open about two weeks, but a year of advance-sales activity has allowed the club to start up strong with 2,200 members, even before the familiar In-Shape signage goes up.

Jamal Perry, who has been coming to the club since it opened, said, “I’m just getting back into working out, but I really like the fact that they have all these machines, and the place is kid-friendly so I can bring the whole family.”

A large, supervised Kids Club is divided into two areas: one for kids under 6; the other for those over 6 who can take advantage of a climbing wall, basketball court, computers and video games.

“My two boys beg to come here, which gives me a great excuse to come and work out while they play,” said Michele Henkle of Antioch. “Everything is so clean and nice and there is just every piece of equipment you can think of.”

Built in two stories, the Antioch club offers a women-only workout room, where machines are sized for the ladies, and large rooms for classes such as yoga and Pilates. The club has tanning beds and a massage room, plus rooms for free weights, bicycles, treadmills and weight machines designed to exercise every muscle group.

The pool area will feature a spa, dry sauna and steam room. A full-sized basketball court is being built adjacent to the indoor pool. Ellis said construction should be completed by this fall.

The club is planning to hire more people in every department, including custodial. There are currently 75 people on the payroll. Membership fees may be a bit more than other clubs, but Ellis said the facilities are so complete that current members don’t mind.

He said anyone interested in seeing a state-of-the-art health club should come and take a tour: “Once they see what we have to offer, they will definitely be impressed and want to join.”

“This club raises the bar for health clubs,” said Sue Harris, an In-Shape sales manager. “It’s a great place to relieve stress and get a terrific workout.”
